The 21-km long Downtown Line 3 (DTL3) is the final stretch of the 42-km Downtown Line. It will enhance rail connectivity in the eastern corridors to the Central Business District (CBD) and developments in the Marina Bay area. Fully underground, DTL3 comprises 16 stations, including three interchange stations: MacPherson, Tampines and Expo. These interchange stations will link to the Circle Line (CCL) and the East West Line (EWL), providing greater accessibility and significantly improve travel time for commuters.
Benefits of DTL3
Commercial and residential developments along DTL3 will now have easy access to the Marina Bay area, including the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and the Marina Bay Financial Centre.
DTL3 will also complement the EWL and serve residents along the MacPherson, Bedok Reservoir and Kaki Bukit area, providing significant time savings for residents in these estates. For example, a Tampines resident travelling to Kaki Bukit will have his journey time reduced by more than half, from 25 minutes by bus to 10 minutes by DTL3.
Besides time savings, DTL3 will also strategically interchange with the EWL at Tampines and Expo stations to serve the Changi Business Park developments.
Residents living in Tampines can experience the convenience of DTL3 at the following stations when the whole system is completed later this year:
Tampines East Station
The station is situated conveniently for the residents of HDB estates in the vicinity and students of Tampines Junior College and Ngee Ann Secondary School.
Tampines Station (Interchange Station)
The station will be an interchange station with the East West Tampines station. It is also next to the Tampines Bus Interchange creating a new transport hub in Tampines. It will provide commuters an alternative choice to meet their daily travel needs. It will serve commuters going to the office buildings and commercial buildings at the town centre, such as CPF Tampines Building, Tampines One and Tampines Mall.
Tampines West Station
The station will be located under Tampines Ave 4. It is in the neighbourhood of HDB Tampines Polyview and Tampines Palmspring, and within easy reach of Junyuan Primary School and East View Primary School. The station is also within walking distance to the Temasek Polytechnic.
