It’s that time of the year again-Chinese New Year. When the shop windows change from gothic black to giddy auspicious red, so even if you are so blur, not knowing the date and day, it dawns on you that it is Chinese New Year. And that you are older by another year.

2012 is said to be the year the world ends according to the calendar of the ancient Mayans – people who once populated parts of Central America. With our planet constantly hit by natural calamities in recent months, frequent, drastic changes in weather and the widely anticipated global recession next year, 2012 does seem like Apocalypse.

I am sure many of you knew or chanced upon Ah Bengs at some point in your life. The image of an Ah Beng or his female counterpart, the Ah Lian, has become synonymous with Singapore culture and gangsterism, at least to locals like you and I.

The legs open up and the pace picks up, moving in perfect synchrony and harmony with vigorous, thrusting arms – the classic posture of a sprinter. The body sends adrenalin coursing rapidly into the muscles and heart and the tempo of the sprint rises to a fever pitch. Sweat starts to pour freely from the pores of the biological cooling system, soaking the runner’s previously untainted T-shirt.

Losing weight – a topic that many females will be interested in. In fact, I would say 8 out of 10 females constantly think they are fat and are always on some kind of diet to lose that extra inch or two. For that, I confess I fall into that 8 who are always complaining about the increasing weight and on a perpetual diet.
